Major Responsibilities
The Department of Animal Health and Production shall bear the following obligations:
- Formulate and prepare the policies, planning, programs, projects and measures to develop the animal health and production sub-sector;
- Monitor animal health and production activities and analyze technical factors related to input use and supply which to be affected to the evolution of animal health and production sub-sector;
- Coordinate between public and private operators and livestock raisers to improve the necessary services provided to animal health and production activities such as technical advice, credit support and input supply;
- Enact law and regulations on quality of animal products, animal taking care and protection and prepare norms and regulations related to animal health and production sub-sector and monitor the implementation;
- Disseminate information on agricultural technology and economics to livestock farmers and to their partners involved in industry and business in collaborated with professional public institutions and farmer organizations;
- Follow up the animal health situation and find out measures for protection and carry out activities against that worse situation;
- Inspect quality of inputs used in animal production and veterinary and instruct the direction for use;
- Control the import and export of livestock at border checkpoints and inspect the animal phytosanitary as well as the animal products and also inspect those at slaughterhouses and other animal processing factories; and
- Undertake other duties which to be given by the leaders of the Ministry.
