Minister encourgae people to participate in aquaculture and recourse conservation

The minister of agriculture appealed the fisherman and the resident whose their livelihood depend on the sea to participate in marine resource conversation and additional aquaculture that resource in order to increase family revenue.

Mr. Chann Sorun,the minister of agriculture, forestry and fisheries, participate in the ceremony of releasing small mollusc, crab and planting mangrove forest to regard as a symbolic and he had a talk in a friendly way with fishery community members a long the beach of Khchorng  island include 80 families in Orn Chheurt village, Chikhorkrom community, Sre Ambel district​.

 

At that time, he claimed in public that this community must strengthen to area and do not use illegal materials in fishing includes persuading the other to do so. The minister added that the people should not only rely on natural resource, but it is a good idea to increase and strengthen fish rasing, crab and shrimp which is possible for villager.

He remarked that community need to stop catching the small crabs and mollusc for sale because it would be a big loss in the future.

He also encouraged people to join in planting mangrove and he confirm that “there are mangrove; there are career”. Fishery administration has a responsibility to make mangrove seed production and other inundated forest.

Khchorng island’s beach fishery community was established in 2003 on the area of 12,336ha where contains 256 families who came from 3 villages: Orn Chheurt village, Khsachkrorhorm village and Tabaen village. To response to the suggestion of community, the minister gave a machine boat, power 40 sea. It is for community to intervene in illegal fishing. He requested the community to use this boat properly with benefit last long. Notice that the minister went there in the middle of this week.
