Ror Halsoung community is in Prek Norin commune, Eak Phnom district was reported that they are so active in prevention and conservention of cambodia natural resources.
On March 03, 2010, the minister of the Ministery of Agriculture, Mr. Chan Sarun went together with the leaders of specialized department to visit Ror Halsoung fisheries community and had a talk with 100 families which are the members of the community.
During that time, Mr. Heng Piseth reported to the minster that this community was created in 2004 under the supported by the Beung Tonleshap Mangagerment Project .
There are 42 communties in the Beung Tonleshap area which are equal to 10.400 family members. The purpose of this project is want to protect those fish resource .
In the future, this community will be planning to restore 5 more protected area. Nowaday, the communities’member contained of 639 families, planted 20.000 of the undated forest, dry season rice, animal husbandry, vegetable growing.
Noticed that, after the community processing, the natural resources are protected and improved the living standard of the resident by planting vegetable beside depending on fishing only.
In front of the community members, the minister is appreciated the the specialist officer and all the members for their well co-operation to build up it. So that, the local residents will be improved their living by fishering planting and aninal husbandry.
The minister requested the member as well as the technical try to continue their contribution in order to develop the living standdard of the residents.
He asked all the community members for tryig to elimnate using the illegal fishering materials. The soil in Battam Bong are more fertilized than other provinces.
He explained that, using the chemical substance in the agriculture in ont only waste money, but also polute both animal area and affected to the user’s health. If there is any nessesary use, they have to discuss with the specialist officer.
He continued, the community leader have to limit the fishering border appropriatly specially in the floating season which is the time for the fish release te egg, regrow the flooded forest for the community members’profit. it is not only the place where the fish release the egg, but also protect the soil erosion. Fisheries Administration have to co-operat with the local authority in order to strengthen the community’s capacity.
Both specialist officer and the community memters should innovate others business which related to that localtion such; fish souce, smoked fish, and Neam...etc. In order to increase the community members’carreers and be better living standdard.
