Monitoring First Time Dry Season Rice in Ta Surs Commune

In the beginning of this week, Mr. Chan Sarun, Minister of MAFF went to monitor the dry rice growth well and has talk with people in the Ta Surs commune, Svay Chrum district.

People have never done this dry rice before in this place. After having a dam, Ou Smarch, is just doing this first year. Mr. Tharch Rotana, a head of provincial department of agriculture in the Svay Rieng district reported to the Minister that, people have never done the dry rice in this region, some of us just start do it after creating the dam so this is the first time for farming.

In front of the farmers, the Minister of Agriculture appreciated all the people worked hard and start with the dry season rice in this time. He also admired to the provincial department of agriculture in the Svay Rieng province that tried their best to advertise the dry season rice techniques by showing the method for farming. The Minister told the farmer that, farming is not base on the dry season or rain season rice but the important point is water source which we can farming. Having water must be farming and planting all alternative to use the land and don’t let it free while we can do it. He also explained about the normal method which related how to use the new practicing for reducing the rice seed, control, and using the fertilizer, etc.

He also suggested to the provincial department of agriculture try to advertise more about the dry season rice in the place where water source has and encouraged people participates with the dry season activities. If we do not do it, we would plant other crop because now we can control rice, but not all of vegetable yet. The provincial department of agriculture is the coordinator who prepared a meeting for all the people in the province order to exchange their experiences and corporate with the Rice Crop Department, General Department of Agriculture. Beside that, the inspectorate at the Fisheries Administration, Chak Tou Mok, of the Fisheries Administration created a dam, Ou Smarch to be come the fish source conservation and will be created a community in order to manage these fish source.
