Meeting with Cassava Farmer at Slor Kram Commune, Svay Chek District.

High ranking officials of MAFF recommended the Cassava farmer at Svay Chek district about what should be done before making decision.

Mr. Chan Sarun, Minister of MAFF went to inspect the agri- industrial job ( Cassava and corn) and gathered in a friendly way with 100 of workers in Slor Kram Commune, Svay Chek District. After listening to the report from the direct of provincial agricultural department, the minister had ordered the agri- idustry department (General department of Agriculture) and Planning department to restudy on soil usage_ how it agrees with the economic, environment, and society situation?

 

The minster wanted to mention about soil quality. He recommenced that sometime we used the wrong plant that did not agree with the soil quality; the output did not balance with the expense, and then the soil quality was deteriorated. So it requires a careful decision when choosing any kind of plant. The minister told the department to speed up the organizing on the draft of sub decree on promised agricultural. Cambodian Development Resource Institute must work harder on researching the rice seed and vegetable seed that familiar with the climate change today.

The minster continued that what he wishes to see is that the farmers can gain a high output from their agri- industry with the sustainable soil quality.
