Mr. Chan Sarun, Minister of MAFF, went to inspect 787 ha of early season rice and had a meeting with 75 family farmers who were member of the commune in Trapaing cherteal village, Chres commune, ChomKiri district. He was appreciated to what people have been doing.
Cabinet officer of the minister told Reaksmeykompuchea on 03 July that the minister went there on 01 July to inspect the early season rice activity. In that chance, the minister ordered the specialist officer to give some advices and method on the problem that occurs in the rice field to the people for solving the problems such as how to remove ខ្យងមាស and how to prevent brown planthopper.
The minister also gave some suggestions on rice seed choosing and its usage. He expressed that the rice seed must be purified. Use early rice and ordinary rice in stead of late rice. Agriculture department and agriculture office must broadcast and introduce farmer to use the purified seed. Use the seedling areas to rise the cabbage row. Pay attention on cover soil layer ( 2-3 decimetre above). Use the Compos fertilizer (Natural fertilizer) to make the soil fertility because cover layer is very important for the rice growth. Plant vegetable such as bean and pumpkin at the late season. Do not use chemical fertilizer and agriculture pesticide.
The farmers there asked the minister a ទ្វាទឹក. Answering to the people’s request, the minister proposed agriculture department to study and research in the area.
