High ranking officials told the village vet as well as the farmers to pay attention on 3 factors when raising cow and buffalo.

Mr. Chan Sarun, the minister of MAFF stated that 3 factors must be focused as the priority in cow and buffalo rising. First is species choosing. Second is food providing. And third is caring. In general, the farmers do not concentrate so much on these problem; just use the transitional way as usual. Now this method must be changed. The farmer must choose the better species with effective economy. Meanwhile, prosthetic cross breed is a major factor to promote animal husbandry productivity. Village vets play the important rule in these activity.

He continued that sufficient food and serious control must be occurred in rising. It is very easy to spread the virus from one to another on both animal and people if the husbandry is free of serious control and caring; therefore, it will generate a lower output.

Providing enough food one of the major task and the food must be produced more and more in each family. The village vet must work on and keep this task as their business.

He continued that for taking care, we must focus on food providing, injection, and hygiene which is also the obligation of the village vet.

100 village vets from 6 communes in Tramkok had been trained on បច្ចេកទេសដាំស្មៅចិញ្ចិមសត្វ and finished on 16 May 2010.

Mr. Soun SoKkeon ( សួន សុគឿន), deputy of the Department of Productivity and Veterinary  Service (នាយកដ្ឋានផលិតកម្ម និង បសុព្យាបាល), said that this is the second practice recommended by the minister of MAFF in the purpose to change Tramkok district to be a role mode in grass plantation. He continued that we need 600,000 of cow and buffalos per year to supply and the amount are increasing every year.

The minister had reminded the vets and the farmers to keep in mind that animal husbandry is not only for productivity, but for business also. The village vet must try to promote the creating of community in order to change the experience and improve animal productivity in Cambodia.
