Introduction

Cambodia has an agriculture-based economy. About 85 percent of the country's workforce is engaged in agricultural activities. The School has a vision and understanding, that by building a greater human resource capacity to meet the agricultural challenge, it will be able to help alleviate poverty to a great extent, and build up the economy and life-standard of farmers. This will lead to a stable society with development opportunities. The role of Prek Leap National School of Agriculture is to play a leading role in the development and teaching of applied courses in agriculture and related areas.

The school will do this by providing a range of courses for the education, training and retraining of various groups. These include students, farmers, existing staff of agricultural departments as well as staff of related ministries, and private sector employees.

Special attention will be given to the needs, capacity and potential of women and student from more remote areas of the country.

The Prek Leap National School of Agriculture will also undertake adaptive research activities to enable the school to provide sound and well founded technologies to students and the farming community. The School will use a participative approach in the development of agriculture and related subjects across Cambodia.
