Introduction
Cambodia has an agriculture-based economy. About 85 percent of the country's workforce is engaged in agricultural activities. The School has a vision and understanding, that by building a greater human resource capacity to meet the agricultural challenge, it will be able to help alleviate poverty to a great extent, and build up the economy and life-standard of farmers. This will lead to a stable society with development opportunities. The role of Prek Leap National School of Agriculture is to play a leading role in the development and teaching of applied courses in agriculture and related areas.
The school will do this by providing a range of courses for the education, training and retraining of various groups. These include students, farmers, existing staff of agricultural departments as well as staff of related ministries, and private sector employees.
Special attention will be given to the needs, capacity and potential of women and student from more remote areas of the country.
The Prek Leap National School of Agriculture will also undertake adaptive research activities to enable the school to provide sound and well founded technologies to students and the farming community. The School will use a participative approach in the development of agriculture and related subjects across Cambodia.

Major Activities:
The following are major activities of this school:
Education The Prek Leap National School of Agriculture is now offering both an Associate degree (2 years) and a Bachelor of Technology (2+2 years). Successful student in the Associate degree may supplement with a two-year continuation study for the Bachelor of Technology degree, this is in accordance with a Ministry of Education Youth and Sport's circular.
The School is enrolling both free students (which scholarship from the Royal Government of Cambodia) and fee-paying students.
In addition to strengthening capacity for agricultural employees, the existing graduates may also enroll to continue a study for Associate or B.Tc. degrees by paying the school fee.
Research The School's educators are required to do adaptive researches, internships, study tours to the school's contact farms and to agricultural related institutions on the topics that are relevant to teaching subjects. The purpose of this is to increase knowledge, compile new data, utilize the research results to enhance the learning experience of the students.
Due to the input of many donors over time, The Prek Leap National School of Agriculture is well provided with physical facilities-classrooms, laboratories and agricultural teaching sites.
Publications The School has published training materials on all relevant subjects, hereunder student notes and short course handouts.
These documents are kept on file and are available from the school's well equipped library. Also research findings, internship reports, conference papers, and study tour notes generated by educators and students are compiled as documents and stored for future reference.
Training and Extension
The School has established a Short Course Center that provide one week to one-month courses in agriculture, fishery and rural development to extension workers, NGOs staff and farmers to fulfill the school's overall aim to disseminate proper agricultural knowledge and technology to farmers.
International Cooperation
The School is cooperating with a number of NGOs and has established projects which have made considerable impact in upgrading the skills of teachers in teaching techniques, curriculum development and English language training.
